I have a preferred book, but is no more than a set of hash codes that I look in first before looking in the wider book. (So play the move, see if the hash code is in the preferred book and if so play that in preference to the wider book - sort of thing.). The disadvantage of course is that I have to regenerate the preferred book hash codes for any change to a preferred move. Frank
