I've absolutely no problems with them. In my current box there are two, one
7200rpm that I use for tablebases (now about two years old), and a 5400rpm disk
that is about 4-5 years old (don't remember exactly). Before that, I also used
IBM's and one 7 year old disk is still running (in the pc of my kids). As I use
them quite a lot, I think that is quite good.

I also built some PC's for relatives (brother, father, father-in-law) all with
IBM disks and no problems at all.

I heard there was a bad batch of IBM disks some time ago, but I didn't have
those problems. In general I'm very satisfied with them. They're relatively fast
and quiet.
