Subject: Shredder 8 knowledge/speed option, and what mig greengard said (i think)

Hi,
I was on playchess the other day (as omega-13) and i was chatting away talking
about how great the S8 parameters settings are, when i was messaged, and i
believe it was Mig (but i cannot be sure, and I don't remember the alias, just
that is was M with a bunch of numbers or letters after it)

But anyway, he said that the knowledge option (if you put it into the positives,
negatives for extra kn/sec) doesn't make it smarter, it isn't actually using
more knowledge for each position evaluation, its just loading more moves or
something into memory?
is this true?

I would think if i put knowledge to say 100, i'd have a smarter engine, but a
slower engine

can anyone confirm this?

anything useful would be greatly appreciated!
