I find that playing either gives me an enjoyable, yet devastating game! I never win against either at the strongest level of play. Have you played and beaten Rebel 12/Windows version at the strongest level? Just some info: Ed Schroder is retired and he has sold Rebel 12/Windows version to Lokasoft. This Windows version was created for Rebel fans who have really wanted a Windows version for a long time. I for one am very thankful that he has made this version and am glad to have it. It plays great in the ChessPartner interface! This version may be the last and only version for Windows since Ed has retired - unless he decides to make another version. It is excellent that he decided to make a Rebel/Windows version before retirement and shows how much he cares for us Rebel fans. The DOS version I believe is just his hobby version, but since he will likely continue work on it from time to time you can expect that it would get stronger. I don't really know if it is stronger than the Windows version because I haven't reviewed any tests results to show this, but even if it is you should really be thankful that he has released this version freely. Ed Schroder has given a lot to the Chess Community and if there was a Chess Hall of Fame I would definitely nominate him to be in it. I have read his story on his web site and find him to be an impressive person. I have played his Rebel from Century 4 up to the latest version 12 Windows and DOS and it is one of my favorite chess programs of all time. Regards, matt
