This is a best move file of mostly quiet moves: ftp://cap.connx.com/chess-engines/new-approach/best7.epd.bz2 The moves are taken from super GM games (2650 Elo and above both sides) and from correspondence games between highly rated players, along with SSDF games. Some sample positions: [D]r1bq1rk1/1p2bppp/p1n1pn2/8/P1BP4/5N2/1P2QPPP/RNBR2K1 w - - bm Nc3; c0 "Nc3(105)"; [D]r1bq1rk1/1p2bppp/p1np1n2/4p3/4P3/1NN1B3/PPP1BPPP/R2Q1R1K b - - bm Be6; c0 "Be6(2)"; [D]r1bq1rk1/1p2bppp/p1nppn2/8/2BNP3/2N1B3/PPP1QPPP/2KR3R w - - bm Bb3; c0 "Bb3(3)"; [D]r1bq1rk1/1p2bppp/p1nppn2/8/2P1P3/N1N5/PP2BPPP/R1BQ1RK1 b - - bm b6; c0 "b6(9)"; [D]r1bq1rk1/1p2bppp/p1nppn2/8/2P1P3/N1N5/PP2BPPP/R1BQK2R w KQ - bm O-O; c0 "O-O(9)"; The value in parenthesis indicates how many times that move was played. For all the moves in this file, it was the only choice made by everyone who arrived at that position. At one second per position, Ruffian 2.0.2 gets 56% right on my machine (950 MHz Athlon).
