I do not agree it is a waste of time in games between players with different
opening books because an opening book is a part of the program but when you play
between 2 players with the same opening book then it is better to do a symmetric
match
(after a game you played the same game with opposite colours).

, and if you dislike Nunn's positions how about no opening books at

with no opening book at all you have only 1 position to begin and with an
opening book you have many positions
