The chess pieces have been fuzzy (not sharp) on my Shredder 7 and now Shredder 8 chessboard and the variation board for a long time, and I didn't know why. Now I've discovered the reason by accident. It is caused by a setting in Windows XP that rounds the edges of screen fonts. If you turn that off, then the chessboard/variation board pieces are super sharp, like they should be! To get to that setting on my computer: System Properties, Advanced tab, Settings button, uncheck the box for Smooth edges of screen fonts, click OK. WP
