CM9000 is a "mass market" program -- or so I have heard it described as that before. It generally sells for a lower price than products from ChessBase or other major chess software providers / vendors. It is sold at almost any computer-related retail outlet and that may lead many to think it must be junk for the masses to consume -- surely not for the educated chess program user?! ;^) It seems to be not "cool" to think CM9000 is a decent program. It does seem cool to think Fritz, Shredder, Hiarcs, Junior, etc are good programs. That, I believe, contributes to its less than high profile treatment on various websites. Those who would profess to know something about chess software would not want to be perceived as less than knowledgeable about chess software by talking about CM9000, in my opinion. Coolness is irrelevant to my situation - I'm way over trying to do trendy things. I just want something that provides value to me. CM9000 does, and so does Fritz for that matter.
