The engine has always been "cool" and it clearly seems to be one of the fastest
mate solvers from judging Merlino's posts. My interest in CM started with
Version 8 due to the winboard compatibility. One thing that surprised me (not
being a Chessmaster user) was the quality of IM Waitzkin tutorials - they are
well done. I didn't wast any time picking up a copy of CM9K. And yes I have all
the other "cool" programs too. I'm not a big fan of all the boards and pieces
etc, but they are selling that program to many people who are not members of
chess federations and chess clubs - and that is a good thing.

Getting more people involved with chess is good - especially people who were not
involved at all with chess previously. Chessmaster is good for chess.
