I have always respected Tao as an excellent >engine, and a new version definitely begs to be tested. The same match with ponder on would be perfect. I suspect the timetrouble will be a bit less, since most engines are tuned for ponder=on and turning it off can seriously distort timemanagement. Some have taken measurements to cope with that (for instance when ponder=off allocate 0.75 of the normal time) but Tao does not. Also, if possible, could you play with the gui's book? Tao's default book is small and a bit outdated, I'm afraid. Book learning is the next point on my agenda... Best regards, Bas.
