I've read that you can use XPs as duals, but I didn't pay too much attention because whey would I want to use it in a way it was not intended to be used? The Prescott is the upgraded Pentium 4 from Intel. You can tell because a Prescott carries the "E" designation (as in P4 2.8E GHz) versus the Northwood, which I believe is designated "C." One of the main differences in the architecture is that the pipeline behind the trace cache has been increased from 21 stages to 31 stages. This seems like it would be bad for chess programs because of high branch misprediction penalties and longer latencies. An improvement over the Northwood is the doubled L1 and L2 caches. Hope this is useful. I'm no computer genius, but I'm good at recalling what I have read.
