If it is too much, then the search may possibly slow to the point where pure alpha-beta would be better. On the other hand, it may be that Shredder will find wins that Fritz will miss because of what it learns from the tablebase oracle. A disk access is far more expensive than a bunch of in-memory calculations. However, a tablebase hit represents perfect knowledge. So it may be worthwhile. It's a balance.
