The following webpage states: http://www.playwitharena.com/directory/faq.htm How can I get Shredder to work in Arena? Why doesn't Shredder use it own opening book? Shredder 5.32 and the newer Shredder 6 exist as UCI engines, so you can use them like any other UCI engine. For Shredder 6 users, you will get 2 versions. A ChessBase Shredder 6 version that does not work in Arena and a UCI version. The UCI version (and the UCI interface that comes with it) must be installed separately. You can find it in the CD. Shredder however depends on the GUI to provide opening books so Shredder will not have an opening book when used outside Shredder. This does not apply to other UCI engines which do not rely on the GUI for opening books. Arena 1.0 and up allows you to set GUI books, see next question. ----- So does this mean if I have Shredder 8 UCI version, it is hopeless to setup an Opening Book and Nalimov TBS ?! If so, why do they not allow these features ? Thank you
