When I play over the board, sometime I would like to have a 2D borad to look at (like the magnetic one I use sometomies to study). But, when I study away from the PC, I find it refreshing to use the real thing, the wood one, to look at games from paper books that smell of paper! I like the aspect of 3D borads is see on ChessBase site, the look of Nizmo I have is the old 3D model that is unusable. As far as I can see hiarcs has the best boards. By the way when I was in Merano for the match Karpov-Kortchnoi both players sometimes steppped out of the chair to look at the wall board to do some calculations, I think it is not as susprising to see "different thing". Also just looking ath the board from a side or from your opponnent side you "see different". regards
