Interesting report... I guess you didn't use physical pieces when learning
chess? Anyway, I think you could get used to real OTB play - with the exception
of having to use a chess clock though - when you practise with a chess computer
with sensor board. You can even practise writing down the moves during that. I
did that often, prior to the PC & online era so to speak.

I think by doing so, you'll soon be able to transfer your online chess strength
to the OTB situation.

As for the dads watching, it's you're advantage as it is more likely that the
kids get nervous. :-) Just be the first to attack. Players below 1000 will, in
general, probably miss to see 2 threats out of 3, and in general prove incapable
to defend good enough or to threat anything real frightening.
