A nice position indeed, but it is also easy to solve it for the wrong reasons. For example after Gothmog's 1. Qd6 f6 2. Bd2? black just plays 2...Bf8 . Probably the critical mainline for a chessprogram to see is 1. Qd2 f6 and now either 2. Rxb7! or 2. Bxe5! . Of course all this is easy for the stronger engines, but it might be quite a challenge for weaker amateur engines to get this one fast. I tried your position with the Novag Star Sapphire, that will find 1. Qd6 at close to 7 minutes, but it needs 90 minutes and depth 10 to show a convincing score: . d 08 -00.34 00:03:27 54/55 5341/s f4-g5 h7-h6 g5-e3 b8-d7 e1-d1 b7-b5 .> d 08 -00.30 00:06:48 46/55 5216/s d2-d6 .+ d 08 -00.30 00:11:43 0/55 7075/s d2-d6 .> d 09 00.46 00:19:37 54/55 6253/s d2-d6 . d 09 00.57 00:26:57 54/55 5759/s d2-d6 a5-c3 e1-d1 c3-a5 f4-d2 g7-f8 .+ d 09 00.57 00:36:46 0/55 8379/s d2-d6 a5-c3 e1-d1 c3-a5 f4-d2 g7-f8 . d 10 01.26 01:30:56 54/55 6714/s d2-d6 f7-f6 b1-b7 c8-b7 d6-e6 g8-e7 .+ d 10 01.26 03:33:57 0/55 6395/s d2-d6 f7-f6 b1-b7 c8-b7 d6-e6 g8-e7 Peter
