If there is sufficient lighting on your train it should be good enough. I
frequently play it in the daytime with no lights on and it is easy to see. You
are correct about the battery life, I get about 6-7 games between charges.
Strengthwise ssdf rates Tiger 2100 at tournment time control. My rating compiled
over 60+ games at game in 30' indicates about 2050. My eyes are not what they
used to be but the full screen board is a good choice. I was looking for a cheap
no frills machine with a fairly strong engine and I have not been dissapointed
with the Zire 21. By the way, if Tiger is not strong enough get Genius as it is
now about 100 pts higher(at least until the next version of Tiger). Good luck
and enjoy.
