Subject: WANTED: GNUCHESS VER 1.00 (the original version that started it all)

Does anyone know where to find GnuChess ver 1.00 or GenricChess(genchess.exe)?

Q1. gnuchess ver 2.00, written by John Stanback, is on his Website,
http://john.stanback.net. Interestingly, the Zip file includes separate source
codes for ENGINE and GUI, leading to today's boom of WinBoard/XBoard stuff.

By the way, I have never seen the original 1.00 version of this preious freeware
chess jewel. Is there anyone who still has the program or source code? Anyone
knows about a Website that lists it as downloadable?

Q2. Before the DotBomb era, you could download "kiss_001.zip"(Generic Chess)
from the GambitSoft homepage, which was a stripped-down version of Gnuchess Ver
2.00(the code can be compiled on any compiler, hence the name "Generic"). I want
to examine and work on the file. If I am not quite wrong, the source was not
more than 2,000 lines. But as the page has gone off now, I cannot found it
anywhere else on the Net.

Any help appreciated in advance.
Best
Jamie
