Does anyone know where to find GnuChess ver 1.00 or GenricChess(genchess.exe)? Q1. gnuchess ver 2.00, written by John Stanback, is on his Website, http://john.stanback.net. Interestingly, the Zip file includes separate source codes for ENGINE and GUI, leading to today's boom of WinBoard/XBoard stuff. By the way, I have never seen the original 1.00 version of this preious freeware chess jewel. Is there anyone who still has the program or source code? Anyone knows about a Website that lists it as downloadable? Q2. Before the DotBomb era, you could download "kiss_001.zip"(Generic Chess) from the GambitSoft homepage, which was a stripped-down version of Gnuchess Ver 2.00(the code can be compiled on any compiler, hence the name "Generic"). I want to examine and work on the file. If I am not quite wrong, the source was not more than 2,000 lines. But as the page has gone off now, I cannot found it anywhere else on the Net. Any help appreciated in advance. Best Jamie
