Go up one level in this thread

I like MCP8 real well because the program is neat and clean. It doesn't have a lot of "bells and whistles". I've seen literally hundreds of messages on this board debating the merits of different setups for CM6, Rebel, etc. And whose to say what the ultimate setup really is? With MCP8, you just fire up the program and go. The display, which includes the board, pieces, moves, evaluations, etc. is crisp and easy to follow. The program is a joy to watch as it thinks. And with MCP8, you have a systematic procedure for crippling its strength to make it playable. And if you do score, the program takes into account it's playing level when it calculates your rating. For me, since my primary interests are a good sparring partner and someone to help me evaluate interesting positions, MCP8 fits the bill. If I were heavy into databases and theoretical setups, then I would look elsewhere for another program. Oh, and as I'm sure you have already heard, it plays a real mean game against humans!
