Don't get me wrong, I am one of those people - I have written a program that uses all of the tricks I criticize. But my objection to it is that a lot of these tricks are not beneficial for research in related fields - even close ones like playing other games, and thus it would be nice to change philosophies. It would also be much more elegant to be able to have computers learn the tricks themselves, don't you think? Artem
