Thank you for the lines, and the observations.
I just checked my notes on the positions. I'm fairly sure they are all from
Ken's maxDTC lists, hence:
(a) the protracted first phase and
(b) the density of '!' marks as equi-optimal moves tend not to be available at
extreme depths.
A query such as:
http://plan9.bell-labs.com/magic/eg/wkd5wre6wnc8bkg7bng4h4
will respond in DTC terms to a given position. A '.' at the end indicates btm.
When minimaxing-DTM, the conversion may happen to come earlier or later than
maxDTC moves in.
I am in fact looking for notable examples that, for the 63 affected P-less 6-man
endgames, the DTC EGT and the DTZ50 EGT are not the same.
maxDTC positions are obvious examples when maxDTC > 50.
R7/8/8/k7/3q4/8/8/bK4Q1 b: DTM = 188 plies then, DTC = 136 plies *

8/k3nq2/8/6R1/8/4Q3/8/3K4 b: DTM = 166 plies then, DTC = 142 plies
4q3/7R/7Q/4r3/8/4k3/8/2K5 b: DTM = 234 plies then, DTC = 169 plies
Bb6/8/8/8/8/1R6/3kn3/K7 b: DTM = 224 plies then, DTC = 190 plies
NbR5/8/n7/8/8/8/8/2K2k2 w: DTM = 417 plies then, DTC = 373 plies
1k4q1/8/3K4/8/1N6/8/8/R3B3 w: DTM = 241 plies then, DTC = 199 plies
... and with the diagrams:
