Do you have history too?
I had implemented killers like that but thrown them out when adding history as
"frequently used killers" and history had the same effect.

I found out, that the optimal way to handle killers differs on the remaining
depth. At the last ply for example 2 killers are enough. On the first ply for
example "frequently used killers" are bad. If you add more killers in middle
depth you will reduce nodes searched without real impact on speed (only the last
2 ply´s affects speed).
