Crafty has far more search extensions and better evaluation in my opinion.  I
have analyzed gnuchess pretty thoroughly and I think that it is very fast and
utilizes most advanced search techniques (Null move, PVS, etc...).  Though I
have only recently begun to look at Crafty, it looks to me like a *lot* of time
has been spent on making the evaluation very strong.

While we're at it, Crafty is 1000 times more readable than the source code mess
that is gnuchess :)
