The lower response time the better. I was a moderator many terms, and I have never read as much as half of the messages on the board. The moderators are there to put out fires so that Steve does not have to do it. Most terms very little happens. Maybe 10 messages in the whole 6 months need some attention from a moderator. Then (on rare occasions) you have whinging twit attacks. When that happens, people start to pose solutions. I think almost every time the cure is worse than the disease.
