I remember fondly, many enjoyable games on my 3.5Mhz Z80 Sinclair Spectrum with Richard Lang's 'Cyrus' chess program. It was, in my opinion, the best chess program at the time for the humble 'Speccy'. It had good graphics a pretty decent playing strength and loads of customizable options. Baring in mind what sort of hardware this program was running on, it was a marvel! It was eventually dethroned by Martin Bryant's 'Colossus 4' which, I believe was the strongest chess program for the 'Speccy'. Bryant's program even sported a 3D board and 'help' mate options.
