When you walk into a Fred Meyers or K-Mart or WalMart store here, you will see ChessMaster on the shelf. If you go into a computer software store like CompUSA and the like, you will see ChessMaster on the shelf. It is the ONLY program you will see. The only way to get ChessBase or Chess Assistant type stuff is to go to a dedicated chess store, and even then they might not have it. I buy Chessbase stuff online from ICD. If it were available locally in Federal Way (where I live) I might buy it there because I could walk into the store if any issue came up. I do not think those products can be purchased anywhere in Federal Way (a city of 90,000 people).
