We have "a few" authors with their own engines already running on ICC, too. Plus, I'm already a tourney manager there, which makes it much more convenient to run it there. Perhaps if someone is interested in running a similar event on FICS, we can work out something where the top engine in those qualifiers also plays in the quarterly championship.
