I play over all the games and try to watch some when I can. It's just my gut
feeling that Shredder 8 copes better with a variety of game types. Others have
also hinted at something superior in Shredder 8's search technique and I agree
with them.
Some impressions I've gained about other programs:
List 512 often overextends itself.
Chess Tiger 15 is not as strong in the early endgame as other top programs.
Hiarcs 9 and SmarThink 0.17a stand out as being 'positional' programs.
Deep Junior is unique in it's optimistic style of play.
El Chinito 3.25 is more susceptible than the others to attacks on it's king, but
is strong in the endgame.
Graham.
