[ I hope I haven't screwed up the formatting of the list. If some browsers
don't display it correctly, please let me know. ]
As you can see from the rating changes, U2600 members have been active
in the past week. Highest rating gain award goes to Grok! Also,
programs which reached new blitz highs during the week were Bugchess,
PostModernist, Amateur, Grok and Hossa.
I am thinking of adding a column showing number of games played during
the week. Feedback would be appreciated, on that and on the general
format of the list.
Frank Schneider doesn't have an ICC account (my mistake), so Gromit
has been dropped from the list. He says he will try to make time in
the future to participate. All other members have responded in the
affirmative, with the exception of Martin Zetner and Oliver Brausch,
whom I haven't be able to contact.
New Members
Inmann Werner (InmiChess) has just got a brand new ICC account, and
has played three games. Welcome aboard!
Francois Scheurer (Cilian) would also like to join up, but the status
of his ICC account is unclear.
Program Notes
Both Hossa and Amateur experienced the effects of the same problem,
which was that 50-move rule draws were handled incorrectly. In the
case of Amateur, the problem extended to repetition draws as well
(result of rewriting the search).
Rival has been reworking his evaluation, fixing bugs. An interesting
technique he's employed is to note the max/min positional scores the eval
puts out by writing fens & scores to a file, for later examination.
This has highlighted some positional scoring problems.

Most Complicated Formula Contest :-)
I have taken to seeking with an "f", rather than specifying a rating
range, in order to make the formula active for both seeks and matches.
But without the rating range, I get a bunch of attempts from low-rated
players, who don't meet the "rating > myrating - 300" criterion.
Is there a way to show the true rating range in the seek (relative to
my current rating)?
