That's just unproper use! No programmer will expect that somebody will want to change the hash size during calculation. Keep in mind that engines create complex data structures. I wouldn't recommend to change anything while an engine is currently working. The normal use is like this: 1. stop the engine 2. set the new hash size 3. restart the engine Does that work without error, with S8 (I suppose it does)? Furthermore, there's no sensefull reason to change the hash size during calculation IMO. Just set a hash size *befor start* you can keep until the end of the calculation. Maybe you overestimate the influence of the hash size. It doesn't make much difference i.e. to use 128 or 256 MB... Next time somebody will report a bug because he can't change the position while the engine was running :-)) (Btw. this was possible in Virtual Chess f.W.'s setup screen!) Regards, M.Scheidl
