In testing the .NET compiler vs the Intel one I have found the Intel one still
makes the fastest executable.

I did come close with the .NET, but not close enough to be called on par. Of
course I am using the makefiles that you sent me, with my own modifications.

You bind all the nodes into one _before_ compiling, where I let the compiler do
it on it's own. I just added that to the makefile, also a few other options that
may slow it down a bit, but defiantely does make it play better.
