You have probably already thought of these ideas, but why aren't you automating the entire thing so that another test will start right away? Do you need to know the results of the previous test before starting another? Also, have you ever looked into any automatic notification system? When I helped running some of the unix machines at school we set up a system where we would get emails, pages, text messages to cell phones, voice mails, phone calls, etc. if something went wrong (power went down and UPS took over, server room got too hot, etc.). Surely it wouldn't be too hard to have your computer ring your cell phone, or at the very least play a very loud noise and turn your speakers way up so you can hear it from the other end of the house :)
