I haven't received the abovementioned virus to the email address used here on
CCC, insofar as I'm aware. Possibly it was deleted by one of the email servers'
anti-virus softwares before it got to me. If it got to me, it is unlikely that
it could activate for several reasons: I practice safe hex. I never read any
emails without first looking at the size, header, attachment, etc. Also I only
read emails in plain text, never html format, one of the settings available in
the latest Outlook Express. Also I have an updated anti-virus software (AVG)
that detects viruses in incoming email, as well as a firewall (ZoneAlarm) that
doesn't like viruses very much either, not to mention some special safety
settings in my email client (Outlook Express). So I feel pretty safe, but not
immune. It pays to be careful.

I note that "0000" would not be the first entry in my address book, but "!" is!
I've had that "!" entry for a long time, following similar advice as yours. I
have no idea whether it helps, but it can't hurt. If it's superstition, that's
OK with me. I'm also reluctant to walk under ladders, or let black cats cross my
path if I can avoid it. :o)
