There are millions of nerds and more than a few thousand nerds buy chess
programs - esp winboard/uci compatible engines.

In our house ( you have to understand my son plays ice hockey - which is about
as far from chess as one get), we have a advertiser flyer (junk mail) posted on
the refrigerator. It was from a manufacturer of hockey equipment and skates
with a few of their products pictured on the front. Gloves, helmet and skates.

It reads "Everything you need to avoid being inducted into the Chess Hall of
Fame".

Since hockey and chess absorb so much of my free time, we got a big kick out of
it and saved it. When friends visit, it is always good for a few laughs. So as
one can see, chess has been in Nerdville for quite some time.
