I don't use them but I've seen some fast times posted with them. I would estimate cm9k with good settings to be somewhere around 5th or 6th best on a rating list. The default settings for chessmaster are geared towards lightning time controls (less than 3 minutes per side). If you play a time controls longer than 3 minutes the default setting gets progressively worse.
