There is a search technique which makes engines better in most of the cases, but
is a problem when there is *zugzwang*. Then, it can be counterproductive (some
engines handle that in an improved way, but obviously it can't be done
perferctly).

It is possible that in your position, the nullmove problem prevents the engines
from finding the fast mate whith Qa2! (puts black in zugzwang). If Black
wouldn't have to move now, White would need two more moves to mate (not one). -
Although, when some engines simply switch off nullmove below a certain material
value on the board, it shouldn't be affected, assuming this position has less
material than that threshold usually is (?).

(Programmers would be able to explain that better or verify my assumptions :-))

Analysis by Chess Tiger 14.0:

1.Rxh5+ Kg6 2.Rxh6+ Kf7 3.Rh8 Ke7 4.Qh7#
  +- (#4) Depth: 7 00:00:00 350kN
1.Qa2 Bg4 2.Qg8#
  +- (#2) Depth: 7 00:00:00 416kN
  +- (#2) Depth: 9 00:00:02 1916kN

Tiger is usually very good in finding fastest mates, but still, it has to
calculate to depth 7 here for a #2.

Analysis by Fritz 7:

1.Qa2!
  +- (#2) Depth: 4/13 00:00:00 7kN
  +- (#2) Depth: 4/13 00:00:00 7kN

(no problem yet with F7)
