I go higher when using the 6 man tbs in Hiarcs, Crafty. There I use a max of 128. For most people 64 is more than enough, as the decompression indices for 5 man is around 20 mb themselves. So a 64mb cache when the tables are in use are more than fine. Here is an example of my crafty.rc that I use on FICS for all time controls: egtb adaptive 900K 12M 96M 12M 48M cache=32M log=off show book whisper=2 exit It does reasonably well for a PIV 2.0 Ghz machine. Especially in longer time control games. I use the optimized exe off my Crafty website. Peter
