Subject: ChestUCI Ver.3.5 is available!

Hello Chest friends,

once again a quite fast update with the following news/changes:
(Please also read the more detailed descriptions in ´English.txt´!)

a) a new option ´SearchOrder´ now allows to select the order, in which ChestUCI
will search for the special parameters K/P/X in ´Auto-Special-Mate´ mode -
all 6 possible orders from ´KPX´ to ´XPK´ are available.
Choosing this search order in a clever way can often provide a dramatically
faster result, as you can try with the following example:
B2k4/KPpP4/n1Pb4/P5p1/5p2/5P2/8/8 b - - bm #20;
For this mate in 20 (with ´Auto-Special-Mate´) the default search order ´KPX´
will take a very long time, but the reverse order ´XPK´ will bring up the
solution almost immediately!

b) for K/P/X now also negative values are possible, which means, that for
´Auto-Special-Mate´ the search for those (negative) parameters will start
only from the absolute value of this number (i.e. from its positive value).

c) Important changes in ChestUCI Ver.3.5: (info also in ´!!V35!!.txt´)
-----------------------------------------
1) The values for ´ChecksOnly´ have been changed as follows:
   ´1=on´, ´-1=off´, and ´0´ means ´off´ for ´Special-Mate´ or
   ´auto´ for ´Auto-Special-Mate´.
2) The option ´KingMobility´ has been changed to ´KingSquares´.
This new value now means the TOTAL number of all possible SQUARES
(incl. the current starting square!) for the opponent king, i.e.
it does NO longer mean his possible MOVES! Thus also the meaning of
the special parameter ´K´ has changed, so this number is now always
BY 1 LARGER than in previous versions - it now goes from 1 to 9!
If you already have mate problem files containing such special
parameters, then all existing K-values should be corrected, i.e.
increased by 1 (the included file ´Mate.epd´ is already adapted).
3) For the same reason also ´WinChest.exe´ had to be changed and
re-compiled, so from now on only this current version (from
May 1st, 2004) has to be used for ChestUCI - otherwise you would
get wrong results for special-mate problems!

Download of the new ChestUCI-Ver.3.5 as usual under:

Much fun with it,
Franz.
