Thanks for everyone's help.

As far as pipes (a totally new concept to me).
Cocoa has a NSPipe built in, and with little practice as I figure out how to use
it, it will do just fine.

My interface will be Cocoa.  My engine a C tool or a objective C tool.


Using the UNIX system calls, select() and the FD calls works just fine so far.

Again thanks to all as I learn my way around.
