Fernando,

why you must pay for the computer, other things for your daily live!
It would be great if I can go to the warehouse and must not pay for thinks I
like.

I can give you a long list for + and - !

More persons can used a free available engine. For a programmer very
interesting, because he will get more helps, bug reports, _OR_?

The most are thinking!
In the past and for different engines yes!
At this time a bigger problem!

Other example "Arena":
More as 100 persons helps with different things!
This is positive and Arena is Freeware!

We have 250 free chess programs. The most of users have no time or interest to
test a program and give bug reports to the programmer. Only the programmers with
strong engines have a lot of beta testers with give bug reports and so on. But
with more strong engines it's a problem to find good testers!

Fact is: With the commercial Patriot version Vladimir got more impressions as in
the latest year with the privat mail-sending Kaissa 1.7 version. How many
persons wrote about the very strong Kaissa 1.7 in chess fora? We make this
experiment, more as 400 shop orders for WB Kaissa 1.7 Light and where are the
bug reports, impressions?

Donwload, tournaments and ready ... here are games and over!
This is __one__ point of view!

I know that the most have no time for testing or only 1 hour pro day or week.
Hope that you understand it what I try to explain.

In my opinion Vladimir is very happy with all the impressions about the
commercial Patriot version and have a lot of fun to work on this project.
Patriot is stronger and stronger and now on the level of the best free available
engines. Patriot is a TOP 15, maybe TOP 10 program!

I believe Vladimir have a lot fo reasons more.
Can write to this topic 100 pages Fernando but my English is not good enough.

You know that I am fan of Freeware but the situation for the moment is not in my
interest. Only a hand full companys, not good for the market.

If commercial computer chess is dead we have "only" the chess forums, newspaper
and we all are happy that we not "must" give our money but computer chess is for
the next years not a topic for really big official events.

Other point:

In my opinion more and more persons will have all for free, this is the bad site
from my work in the latest 6 years (all for FREE).

Means that commercial chess and amateur chess must hold a good mixture.
Commercial and amateur chess must work hand in hand, my wish in the latest years
but the most commercial firms goes his own way and have the Dollars in his eyes
only!

At the moment talented amateur programmer which have interest to make money with
here really BIG work have on the market a bad chance. So I will try to make a
little bit for a good mixture!

Enough, give me a chance to write in German and I can write a book about my work
in the latest 6 years.

Best
Frank
