That Ruffian plays weaker with ponder off is just a sort of urban myth:
difficult to define, but supposed to exist.  Just ask the losing sides in the
Leiden ICT 4 tourney how badly Ruffian ponders:  Deep Sjeng, Diep, The King,
among others...
