Even after forcing 1.Qh6 Bxh6 2.Rxh6 g5 3.Bd3, CM_SKR does not announce a mate in under two minutes, and I would have been pretty surprised if Ruffian could have accomplished that. CM_SKR on an AMD 2500+ finds Qh6 in 3 seconds: Time Depth Score Positions Moves 0:00 1/3 1.37 2800 1.Qh4 Nh5 2.Bxg7 Kxg7 3.gxh5 bxc3 4.hxg6 fxg6 0:00 1/4 0.91 7011 1.Qh4 Nh5 2.Bxg7 Kxg7 3.axb4 0:00 1/5 0.47 37466 1.Qh4 Nh5 2.Bxg7 bxa3 3.gxh5 axb2+ 4.Kb1 Kxg7 5.Bxa6 Qxc3 6.Bxc8 Rxc8 7.hxg6 fxg6 0:00 1/5 0.65 60499 1.axb4 Rxb4 2.Bxf6 exf6 3.Qh4 f5 4.Bxa6 Rcb8 0:00 1/6 0.65 153567 1.axb4 Rxb4 2.Bxf6 exf6 3.Qh4 f5 4.Bxa6 Rcb8 0:02 1/7 0.45 591402 1.axb4 Rxb4 2.Bxf6 exf6 3.Qh4 f5 4.Bxa6 Rcb8 5.g5 Kf8 0:03 1/7 2.66 851926 1.Qh6 Bxh6+ 2.Rxh6 g5 3.Bd3 Bf5 4.Nd5 Qb7 5.gxf5 e5 6.Nxf6+ Kf8 0:05 1/8 7.86 1560145 1.Qh6 Bxh6+ 2.Rxh6 g5 3.Bd3 Bf5 4.exf5 e5 5.fxe6ep fxe6 6.Rg6+ Qg7 7.Bxf6 Qxg6 8.Bxg6 0:10 1/9 10.27 3133408 1.Qh6 Bxh6+ 2.Rxh6 g5 3.Bd3 Bf5 4.Bxf6 exf6 5.gxf5 Kf8 6.Nd5 Qxc2+ 7.Bxc2 Ke8 8.Rh8+ Kd7 9.Rxc8 Kxc8 10.Rh8+ Kb7 11.Rxb8+ Kxb8 12.Nxb4 0:24 1/10 10.36 7627723 1.Qh6 Bxh6+ 2.Rxh6 g5 3.Bd3 Qc6 4.Rh8+ Kg7 5.R1h7+ Kg6 6.e5+ Ne4 7.Nxe4 Qxc2+ 8.Bxc2 Rxc2+ 9.Kxc2 Rxh8 10.Rxh8 dxe5 11.Bxe5 f6 12.Nc5 Bd5 0:51 1/11 10.32 17030905 1.Qh6 Bxh6+ 2.Rxh6 g5 3.Bd3 Qc6 4.Rh8+ Kg7 5.R1h7+ Kg6 6.e5+ Ne4 7.Nxe4 Qxc2+ 8.Bxc2 Rxc2+ 9.Kxc2 Rxh8 10.Rxh8 bxa3 11.bxa3 dxe5 12.Bxe5 f6 13.Nc5 Bd5 My best estimate is that there is not a mate in even 15 moves, although a particularly long think with CM during my lunch break might prove me wrong. jm
