Eugene, nice to hear it. But really, startup time does not bother me. I just was
interested in Bob's numbers (startup time), which are rather far from what I
see. I tried it, so I thought, I could also mention it.

The recent suggestions of Marc and yourself (about saving RAM for the
decompression indices) I found more interesting, although I don't even see a
problem there. Many purists will not like to overcommit some RAM - I don't care
too much, myself. After all we have virtual memory for a good reason.

Since quite a long time, there is no source for the tbgen, datacomp, ... on
Bob's ftp anymore. I mainly miss probe.txt, which was inside the same package.
Do you think of making it available again? At the moment, when I want to change
to a newer version of your probing code, I always feel a bit unsecure. Did
anything significant in the calling procedure change? I use diff, to compare
with older versions. But a newer probe.txt (if necessary) would really be nice.

Regards,
Dieter
