If you use -1.50, and the real score is greater than that, the engine will avoid the draw since that would drop the search score to -1.5... we generally use - numbers so that the engine will play on even in somewhat inferior positions, hoping the human opponent will make a mistake. When playing against a computer I _always_ use 0.00 unless I am in an event where a draw is as good as a win, then I'll set contempt to +2.0 or something to encourage that whenever possible...
