One - I'm a collector of sorts - so one reason why I have all the volumes is
that I thought it would be neat to get them all. I actually started over 20
years ( I was about 16 years late to the party myself (the first volume #1 was
printed in 1966.). I was fortunate that I had the foresight to collect some of
earlier volumes (pre 1982) I missed early on - as a few of them are now sold
out. But I picked up the vast majority of them the last several years. I was
ab;e to acquire 55 of the volumes in just one ebay auction for about $400 - that
was a good deal. I then had about 15 doubles which I sold individually on eBay.

I suggest starting with the subscription plan which is a good deal. You can get
3 books w/CD for roughly 62 GBP directly - which covers one whole year. And
then just start backfilling as the budget and time permit. Keep an eye out for
a big auction as you will generally only pay about $7-8 per book. You can also
contact CI directly to find out which ones are about to be sold out. The war
year volumes (early mid 90's) are generally in short supply as well as some of
the early years. Even the ones sold out can be found on eBay if you watch it
long enough.
