yeah i found this annoying as well, however i use the leather pouch, so i folded
back the face plated behind the computer and then slipped the computer into the
pouch
the only time i need to deal with the plate is to change batteries(which is
every few days or so)

agreed ..can be annoying for a long game

the only way to keep your saved games and opening book is to use an adaptor
you plug the unit in
replace the batteries and remove the adaptor

well this makes the playing strength considerably weaker
the principal reason to even consider buying the SS is for its good playing
ability
i find it to be an extremely strong Blitz player(5-10 MIN GAMES)
