Whithout this the result would only be valid with the exact same timecontrol on PC with the same cpu-speed. One problem is how engines react when low on time, some start moving instantly with 30 sec. left on the clock. Also when both engine move instantly it's pure bingo who wins. You will also get a draw result in a drawn endgame, where without increment the result are random. Odd Gunnar
