When I read the explanation from Alekhine it was easy to comprehand. The correct way to approach this and any position is to figure out a plan, NOT by counting material value, but by analazing that three minor pieces are way superior with pawns then a single Queen. The plan is easy, simply figure how to eliminate the base pawn d5 by using two of the minor pieces plus your King which is three attacking pieces to two defendind pieces and use your third piece to protect from any possible check by the Queen. Once the pawn are eliminated simply promote the pawns and exchange Queens as early as possible and the rest is simple. Jorge
