The problem description sounds to me as if the *Windows System Recovery* function is responsible once again. AFAIK that function - I've disabled it - will always backup files that have been changed, including very large files even. Which may happen to the book files as soon as they have been changed due to the book learning. Similar "symptoms" have been reported before, by other users. (Don't let it irritate you when it doesn't happen after game #2) AFAIK files which are stored in ..\My Documents\.. are not affected by that function. I'm not sure; other users who had the same problem, may be able to acknowledge. You can try to move your book files, completely, in a folder there, and see if the problem still occurs. (You can access any path when loading a book, from within Fritz.) If the problem is still there, you can try to disable the System Recovery (in the Windows System Configuration, System) - at your own risk...! I don't use that function, so I have to care for backups etc. myself. But dislike these various Windows background activities anyway which are out of my direct control (can lead to "strange effects" in comp games especially, as they are performance related often), so I try to switch off as many as I can :-)) Of course it's a compromise between performance and security. But OTOH most of us will have virus guards, firewalls, pop-up killers etc. added as resident progs, so all that background stuff has to be limited anyway. Regards, M.Scheidl
