What program has the best opening book feature..ect.ect. Even most of the threads on CCC have to do a programs strength in one way or the other. Couldn't the people who spend $100 simply a few bucks >more and own CM as well?? Yep, but that does not change the facts they already paid $100 bucks for another program. And don't you find it strange that some of the people that are attacking Chessmaster have never owned it. Most of the people that are defending Chessmaster do own it, and own many of the other top programs. Besides, most of the programs out there could kick the >shit out of 90% of us anyways (even freeware). Does not matter, People will buy an upgrade to a chess program even if the program is only a bit stronger then the program they have, and has few if any new features of use. Anything over strong IM for me is overkill But for many, the stronger the better, if this was not true. You would not see the marketing of a programs chess strength. You would not have seen the flap that Fritz 5 caused by gaining the top spot on the list. Yes, chess strength is and will be the most importent feature any chess program can have. (perhaps not for professionals, but that is the minority of all the >chess players). Maybe my interest is different than most here, a better tool to >manage my games according to theme, good analysis functions, a little coaching >and/or tutoring, and computer opponents with different and interesting styles. >Basically, tools to improve my game. Simply having an opponent crush me faster >is not enough for me....just my opinion, but I don't think solely 10% share it 10% sounds close to me. :) >:)
